Day 1 departure south over Tizi n'Tichka or north via the Casablanca road. If taking the northern route, overnight in Casablanca or drive directly to Fes (8 hours).
The northern route passes Casablanca, Rabat (Kasbah of Udayas, Hassan Tower), and Meknes (Bab Mansour, Volubilis Roman ruins nearby). Choose 1–2 stops depending on your pace.
The essential overnight stop. Fes el-Bali medina — 9,000 streets, the tanneries, Al-Qarawiyyin University, Bou Inania Madrasa. Stay 1–2 nights in a Fes medina riad. The cultural peak of the circuit.
The drive from Fes to Chefchaouen passes through the Middle Atlas cedar forest near Azrou — home to Barbary macaques that live wild in the cedar canopy. A 30-minute stop that children universally love.
Arriving in Chefchaouen after the medina intensity of Fes is a revelation — narrow blue-washed alleys, mountain silence, mountain spring water running through channels in the street. The most photographed medina in Morocco.
From Chefchaouen, a half-day walk up to the Spanish Mosque (30 min from the medina) gives panoramic views of the blue city below. The Akchour waterfalls (45 minutes from town) are a full-day hike option for active visitors.
720 km by road — approximately 8–9 hours direct drive. MSITravels does not do this as a single day's driving. The standard circuit (3–4 days) breaks it into: Day 1 Marrakech → Rabat or Meknes (4 hrs); Day 2 Meknes → Fes (1 hr) + full Fes day; Day 3 Fes → Chefchaouen (3 hrs) + afternoon in the blue city; Day 4 Chefchaouen full day or return.
Private vehicle, licensed guide, riad accommodation throughout. 3 to 5 days, fully tailor-made.
