The early morning light (8:00–10:00am) and late afternoon light (4:00–6:00pm) are spectacular in the narrow canyon. Dades Gorge: Longer and more varied — the 'monkey fingers' rock formations and the winding mountain road higher in the gorge are iconic. Better for scenic drives and photography of the wider landscape. Best itinerary: Drive Dades Gorge road in the afternoon (light from the west), overnight in Boumalne Dades or at a gorge guesthouse, early morning walk in Todra Gorge the next day.
