Todra Gorge + Dades Gorge — the valley circuit
- Day visit from Ouarzazate: Drive via Boumalne Dades, walk through Todra Gorge floor, return. 10-hour day with two gorges included.
- Overnight in the gorge (recommended): Stay at a gorge-edge guesthouse. Dawn and dusk light on the 300m walls is extraordinary and unlike any other time of day.
- Marrakech ? Todra ? Merzouga circuit: The most popular southern Morocco route passes through both gorges en route to the Sahara. MSITravels optimizes the route for maximum light and minimum driving.
What to see and do at Todra Gorge
The Narrow Canyon
300m walls, 10m width — one of the world's great geological spectacles. Sunlight reaches the canyon floor for only 2–3 hours around noon, creating extraordinary shifting light effects throughout the day.
Rock Climbing
150+ sport climbing routes on exceptional quality limestone — from beginner to 8c+ world class. Todra Gorge is one of Africa's top climbing destinations. Local guides and hire equipment available at the gorge.
Tinghir Oasis
The lush palm oasis town above the gorge — a large date-palm grove with a weekly Tuesday market. Views from the town plateau across to the Atlas Mountains are spectacular.
Dades Gorge (1h away)
The sister canyon west of Todra — the 'monkey fingers' erosion formations and mountain road through Berber villages are iconic. MSITravels combines both gorges on a dedicated valley circuit.
Night Sky Astronomy
Near-zero light pollution — some of Morocco's darkest skies. Milky Way photography from the gorge floor is extraordinary. MSITravels can arrange overnight stays at gorge guesthouses for dawn/dusk light.
Gorge Walk
90-minute trail along the Todgha river above the narrow section — through palm groves, Berber hamlets, and open valley. The upper gorge is less visited and has excellent landscape photography opportunities.
