How to visit Casablanca
- Day stop on Morocco circuit: Most international flights land at CMN. 1–2 nights in Casablanca at the start/end of your Morocco tour. Hassan II Mosque + Art Deco walk + Corniche dinner.
- Day trip from Marrakech: 3.5h train or car. Full-day Casablanca city tour possible. Better as an overnight to appreciate the evening Corniche atmosphere.
- Casablanca + Rabat combination: 2 days — Casablanca city tour day 1, train to Rabat day 2 (Hassan Tower, Mausoleum). Both UNESCO-heritage cities.
What to see in Casablanca
Hassan II Mosque
The world's third-largest mosque — built on the Atlantic Ocean with a glass floor over the sea and a 210m minaret. One of Morocco's greatest architectural achievements, open to non-Muslim visitors on guided tours.
Art Deco Architecture
The world's finest Art Deco collection outside Miami — built 1920–1960. The 'Mauresque' style blends European modernism with Moorish ornament. Walking tours available through MSITravels.
The Corniche
Casablanca's Atlantic seafront promenade — beachside cafés, restaurants, and the Ain Diab beach clubs. The best place to see how cosmopolitan Moroccans spend their evenings.
Old Medina
Smaller and less touristy than Marrakech's medina — a more authentic neighbourhood market where local Casablancans actually shop. Excellent for street food, textiles, and everyday Moroccan life.
Rick's Café
A recreation of the fictional café from the 1942 film 'Casablanca' — built in 2004 in a genuine Art Deco riad. Now a beloved Casablanca institution with live piano, cocktails, and excellent Moroccan-international cuisine.
Central Market & Habous
The Habous quarter (Nouveau Médina) is a planned French-built medina from the 1930s — the most architecturally coherent souks in Morocco. Also home to the Royal Palace and Mahkama du Pacha courthouse.
