October Marrakech: 27°C average day temperature, 15°C nights — ideal for medina walking, souk exploration, and rooftop dinners. The brutal 40°C summer heat is over; the cooler winter has not yet arrived. Morning medina walks are crisp and comfortable.
October is the best single month for the Sahara desert experience. Day temperatures: 28°C (comfortable, not scorching). Night temperatures: 15–18°C (cool enough for blankets, warm enough to sit outside by the campfire until midnight). The stargazing window — after sunset to before dawn — is the longest and clearest of the year.
After the summer dry season, October rain begins to green the Atlas Mountain valleys. Ourika Valley, Imlil, and the High Atlas trekking routes are at their most lush. Toubkal is snow-free through most of October — good conditions for the summit.
October marks the end of the main European summer tourism wave. The Marrakech medina is less pressured than July or August; Fes is quieter and easier to navigate; Chefchaouen has fewer tour groups. You get the Morocco experience without the tourist-season intensity.
October hosts several Moroccan festivals: the Mawazine Rabat music festival (late September into October), local harvest celebrations in the Dades Valley, and the end-of-summer Berber cultural events in the Atlas villages. Ask MSITravels about coinciding your visit with local events.
October light in Morocco is extraordinary — lower sun angle, golden afternoon glow, long-shadow medina streets, and clear air after the summer dust. Professional photographers consistently rate October as the best month for Morocco landscape and street photography.
October is widely considered the best single month to visit Morocco. The weather is ideal across all regions simultaneously — Sahara, Atlas, medinas, and coast. Crowds are lower than spring peak (March–May). Prices are slightly lower than peak season. For a first Morocco visit, if you can choose any month, choose October.
