Route of 1,000 Kasbahs · Atlantic Coast · Northern Circuit
Morocco Road Trip — Ultimate Route Guide
Four iconic Morocco road trip routes — from the Route of 1,000 Kasbahs to the Atlantic coast. Self-drive tips and private guided options by Aziz Sakri.
Quick Answer
Self-drive or private guided?
Self-drive: Morocco drives on the right. Motorways and N-roads are excellent. Mountain passes require care in winter. Best for experienced drivers who want flexibility.
Private guided (MSITravels recommended): Driver-guide navigates, explains, and connects you to local experiences you would never find alone. Frees you to watch the landscape instead of the GPS.
Best compromise: Rent a car for the imperial city sections (easy urban driving) and use MSITravels private 4x4 for the mountain and desert sections (where navigation and local knowledge matters most).
