Dades + Todra — the 2-gorge valley circuit
- Afternoon drive through Dades (recommended): Drive the gorge road in the afternoon — western light enhances the monkey fingers and valley colours. Overnight in a canyon guesthouse.
- Morning walk in Todra (next day): The narrow 10m canyon at Todra catches sunlight for only 2–3 hours around noon — plan accordingly. 1 hour from Dades by car.
- On all MSITravels southern circuits: The Dades + Todra valley day is included on all 7-day+ Morocco circuits between Ouarzazate and Merzouga.
What to see in Dades Gorge
Monkey Fingers Rock Formations
The most distinctive geological feature in southern Morocco — eroded Jurassic limestone columns sculpted into organic 'finger' shapes. Best photographed in afternoon light when the ochre tones intensify.
Scenic Gorge Road
25km of winding valley road past kasbahs and Berber villages, culminating in dramatic switchbacks through the upper gorge. One of the finest scenic drives in Africa.
Rose Valley
The section between Kalaat M'Gouna and Boumalne Dades is famous for Damask rose cultivation. Every May, the Rose Festival celebrates the harvest — rose water, rose oil, and pink petals everywhere.
Skoura Palm Oasis
The gateway oasis before Boumalne Dades — 1,000 hectares of date palms hiding ancient kasbahs including the famous Kasbah Amerhidil (the most-photographed kasbah in Morocco after Aït Benhaddou).
Berber Villages
The upper gorge road passes through isolated Berber villages where traditional earthen architecture and agricultural terraces have barely changed in centuries. Genuine community visits arranged by MSITravels.
Todra Gorge (1h away)
The sister canyon — narrower (10m), taller (300m), and more dramatic at the slot-canyon point. MSITravels combines both gorges on a 2-day Dades + Todra circuit on all southern Morocco tours.
