The medina souks are most authentic and least crowded before 10am — craftsmen are working, goods are fresh, and shopkeepers are less aggressive.
The square is quiet at midday. Return at 7pm for the magic: food stalls set up, storytellers appear, smoke fills the air.
Majorelle Garden has capped daily visitor numbers. Book online the day before to avoid queuing or being turned away.
Riads inside the old medina walls put you within walking distance of everything. Avoid hotels on the ring road — they require a taxi everywhere.
